The Kuwaiti Progressive Movement: Legitimate Questions Regarding the Nature of the "Board of Peace"... and a Call for Caution to Arab and Islamic Nations

US President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding the formation of the so-called "Board of Peace"—along with the accompanying statements and insinuations—has raised a series of legitimate questions regarding the nature and objectives of this board. It appears that this board is not limited to the Gaza file or merely supervising the implementation of the ceasefire agreement terms accepted by the Palestinian Resistance. Rather, it extends beyond that to constitute a new political and security framework, resembling an entity parallel to the United Nations system and the Security Council. This is in complete harmony with US policy, which has consistently sought to evade the international order, bypassing its organizations and laws, and even dismantling them when they conflict with its imperialist interests.

This US trend emerges within the context of a track record rife with aggression and disregard for international law. This has been witnessed in the genocidal war waged by the Zionist entity against the Gaza Strip with full American support; in the repeated attacks on Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran; and in the recent aggression against Venezuela at the beginning of this year, accompanied by the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. Furthermore, the brazen conduct regarding Greenland clearly reflects the logic of imperialist arrogance with which Washington treats the peoples and nations of the world.

The Kuwaiti Progressive Movement believes that American intentions behind this board are not benign, but rather suspicious, particularly if it exceeds its declared tasks. It has strayed from the core responsibility it is supposed to undertake: supervising the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. This is an agreement that the Zionist entity failed to adhere to in its first phase, as it continues to close crossings, block the entry of the majority of aid, and persist in its daily aggression and killing of the Palestinian people in the Strip. Meanwhile, the American side, as the guarantor of the agreement, refrains from exerting any real pressure to force the occupation to comply, instead providing it with political cover and direct support.

The Kuwaiti Progressive Movement draws attention to the fact that the most dangerous aspect of Trump’s statements is the discussion of forming a military force under this council to supervise the disarmament of the Palestinian Resistance. This proposal implies nothing less than the introduction of a new occupation force, functionally integrated with the Zionist entity, to execute a mission the entity failed to accomplish due to the valiant resistance and steadfastness of the Palestinian people. This renders such a force—should it be formed and commence the execution of Trump’s words—a legitimate target for the Resistance, within the framework of the legitimate right of peoples to defend themselves, their land, and their national rights.

Based on the foregoing, the Kuwaiti Progressive Movement calls upon the countries of the region in particular, and Arab and Islamic nations in general, to exercise extreme caution when dealing with this board. This is particularly urgent given the roster of American and European names circulated in the media for board membership; these are figures who are ideologically Zionist to the core, including those involved in war crimes and corruption, and those with a malign history in our region. Furthermore, there are reports promoting the invitation of the Zionist entity itself to join. There must be awareness of the probability that this board constitutes a new tool for imposing US-Zionist hegemony, liquidating the Palestinian cause, and redrawing maps of influence and control in the region at the expense of its peoples and their sovereignty.

In Conclusion:

The Kuwaiti Progressive Movement calls upon the peoples of the Arab nation, and its national and progressive forces, to rise to the level of the current historic challenges. We call for the intensification of our joint struggle in defense of the Nation, and to work toward crystallizing a comprehensive Arab national liberation project capable of confronting imperialism and Zionism, safeguarding national sovereignty, and achieving social justice and human dignity for our peoples.
